Foster Group's old on-premise IT systems were adequate for office staff, but they were a major bottleneck for the people doing the on-the-ground work. Construction and maintenance teams on-site had slow, or in many cases, no access to core business applications, forcing them to rely on paper-based processes.

With a move to a new head office on the horizon, Fosters needed a partner who could not only migrate them to the cloud but also design and implement a modern digital workspace for their 200+ employees, all within a short execution timeframe.

    Building a Cloud Foundation with AWS

    The first step was to remove the old on-site servers. We migrated all of Fosters' core IT services and business applications to Amazon Web Services (AWS). This foundational move to the cloud was designed to provide fast, secure, and reliable remote access for the entire organisation. The new infrastructure was rapidly prototyped and delivered to meet the tight deadline of the office move.

    Digitising the New Workspace

    To complement the cloud migration, Dynamo6 designed and implemented a high-speed network for the new purpose-built premises. This included state-of-the-art security to protect staff and information assets. The new network enabled Fosters to digitise their workspace with automated meeting room booking, a modern visitor sign-in system, and high-definition video conferencing between the head office, regional offices, and construction sites.

    Empowering the Mobile Workforce

    A key goal was to empower the construction and maintenance teams. We implemented a mobile device management system, allowing Fosters to roll out mobile devices with a standard, secure operating environment. This gave on-site staff real-time access to core systems for the first time, eliminating piles of administrative paperwork.

    Comprehensive Managed IT Support

    Following the successful migration, Dynamo6 stepped in to become Fosters' fully outsourced IT partner. This Managed Services arrangement covers the entire scope of their technology needs, including proactive support for their AWS infrastructure, network, devices, and reliable helpdesk support for all 200+ end-users. This commitment has delivered rock-solid stability, demonstrated by an instance where a server outage was resolved, including a full data restore, in just four minutes.

    The partnership goes beyond day-to-day support to focus on long-term digital enablement. We continue to work with Fosters on their strategic roadmap, which includes piloting new innovations like IoT sensors on construction sites and planning for their future migration to Microsoft 365. We wanted our team on sites to have the same experience as people sitting at a desk at HQ, and enable them to focus on what they do best, without technology frustrations.
