Network 4 Learning (N4L) is a crown-owned entity that provides fully-funded internet and security solutions to schools and kura across New Zealand. Operating a hybrid Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 environment, N4L’s internal IT team faced challenges managing their predominantly Windows-based device fleet, creating friction for both administrators and end-users.

N4L sought to consolidate its device and application management by moving to a single, unified solution. The goal was to implement a Standard Operating Environment (SOE) using Microsoft Intune, which would streamline device provisioning, simplify security and compliance, and create a seamless user experience.

    Discovery & Planning

    We began with a comprehensive discovery phase to understand N4L's existing environment. This involved a thorough assessment of their device inventory, user profiles, application usage, and existing security policies. This process allowed us to gather the necessary information to formulate a strategic plan tailored to their unique hybrid environment.

    Solution Design & Implementation

    Based on our discoveries, we designed a future-state solution centred on the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. This involved leveraging Microsoft Entra ID for unified identity and access management and implementing Microsoft Intune for device and application management. We then moved to implementation, configuring the core policies and establishing a repeatable process for device enrolment.

    Migration & Support

    The final phase focused on a seamless transition. We executed the migration of devices from their previous management tool to Microsoft Intune. To ensure the N4L team was empowered to own and manage their new environment effectively, we provided comprehensive training and hands-on go-live support, strengthening their internal capabilities and ensuring a successful handover.
