Kitchen Mania’s reliance on a traditional terminal server was becoming a major hindrance. Access to critical information outside the office was non-existent, forcing staff to save files on personal devices. This created huge security risks and meant that if a laptop was lost or stolen, that information was gone forever.

Furthermore, the manual backup process was a time-consuming and fallible weekly task that relied on a single person remembering to take a USB drive off-site. With their server contract nearing its end, Kitchen Mania knew they needed to move to the cloud to support their multi-location business and enable their team to work more effectively.

    A Cloud-First Vision

    Our engagement began by understanding Kitchen Mania's core challenges and goals. Their vision was clear: "productivity in the browser." They wanted to increase collaboration and enable secure, seamless access to company files from anywhere. Our solution was to migrate them fully to Google Workspace.

    Seamless Migration & Network Upgrade

    Our team planned and executed a seamless migration to Google Workspace. To complement this move and support their multi-site operations across showrooms and a large manufacturing plant, we upgraded their network infrastructure. Our engineers installed Cisco Meraki hardware across their locations, delivering reduced latency, a faster, more consistent connection, and giving us the network visibility needed for proactive support.

    Automated Backups & Proactive Support

    We replaced their risky, manual backup process with Spanning, an automated, third-party cloud backup solution for Google Workspace. This ensures their core company data is protected without relying on a single person or physical hardware. The project then transitioned into a full Managed Services partnership, providing proactive IT support, device management, and security for their entire environment.

The results

By understanding their challenges, we delivered a holistic solution that has transformed Kitchen Mania's operations.

  • Anytime, Anywhere Access: Staff can now securely access company files, documents, and customer information from any browser, on any device.

  • A Resilient, Lockdown-Proof Business: When the 2020 lockdown hit, the new Google Workspace environment was its ultimate test. Staff were able to continue working from home seamlessly, and the design team pivoted to conducting virtual consultations using Google Meet, leading to a huge boost in sales.

  • Automated & Secure Data: The move to automated, cloud-to-cloud backups has eliminated the risk and time-cost of their old manual process.

  • Proactive Support and Visibility: Through our Managed Services, Kitchen Mania now has a proactive partner, complete visibility of their network through the Meraki dashboard, and expert support for their devices and end-users.

  • In the space of just a couple of months, we’ve gone from talking with Dynamo6 about what we’d like to do, into having it. We’ve come from non-existent external document access to easy to access documents.
    Our people can access things quickly and get answers quickly too. Moving from a server-based environment to a cloud-based one has more than doubled our internal capabilities and capacity.

    During lockdowns, people were able to keep working. That wouldn’t have been possible beforehand. Our processes are becoming more digitised, we’re doing more, and we’re growing even more as a result. We were pretty stoked at how Google Workspace has worked for us.
