Dynamo6 is thrilled to announce that we have achieved the Cisco Umbrella for MSSP Specialization. Learn more about this best-in-class, cloud-delivered security solution and how it acts as a proactive first line of defence for the modern, distributed workplace.

We’re thrilled to announce that Dynamo6 has achieved the Cisco Umbrella for MSSP Specialization. This accomplishment demonstrates our continued commitment to offering best-of-class security solutions to suit modern workplaces and meet the evolving security needs of our customers.

The Evolving Needs of the Modern Workplace

The workplace has fundamentally changed. For many, it’s not a single location but a fluid mix of work-from-home, on-site visits, and desks in the office. Our data is off-site, and most of our tools are SaaS-based. As our ways of working have changed, the types of threats an organisation is open to have changed too.

Consider these common scenarios:

  • Scenario 1: The Malicious Website. A user, working from a network without robust protection, visits an unsecured website infected with malware. A keylogger is installed on their device. The next time they log in to a core business application, their credentials are stolen, and sensitive data is compromised.

  • Scenario 2: The Phishing Email. A user clicks on a phishing link in an email that bypassed basic security filters because they were connected to a less secure network, like a home or guest Wi-Fi. The attacker now has access to send fraudulent payment requests from a seemingly legitimate account.

These changes create a unique challenge for traditional, on-premise security models, which can be difficult to administer and often leave dangerous gaps. This is why we have partnered with Cisco to offer a modern alternative.

What is SASE and Cisco Umbrella?

The modern solution to these problems is a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) model. Pronounced "sassy," this approach combines comprehensive network security functions into a single, cloud-delivered service.

Cisco Umbrella is a perfect example of a SASE solution in action. As a Secure Internet Gateway (SIG), it acts as your first line of defence. By operating at the DNS layer—the very first step in any internet connection—it stops threats before they can ever reach your network or your endpoints.

Proactive Security, Not Reactive Panic

Traditional threat intelligence is reactive. The cloud-based, real-time nature of Cisco Umbrella offers a better way to stay protected. Here are some features we think you’ll like:

  • No hardware or software to maintain: It's a fully cloud-delivered service.

  • Protection everywhere: It covers all connected devices, including personal devices (BYOD) and remote workers, even when they are not connected to the office VPN.

  • Blocks threats early: It stops connections to malicious sites, phishing campaigns, and ransomware servers before they can cause harm.

  • Identifies existing threats: It assists with identifying devices on your network that may already be infected.

  • Practical content filtering: It allows your organisation to set and enforce acceptable use policies, blocking sites or apps that are inappropriate or drain productivity.

Security is Not Just for the Enterprise

It's easy to think that smaller businesses aren't attractive targets, but a hands-off approach is exactly what cybercriminals bank on. In Q1 2021 alone, CERT NZ reported that cybersecurity incidents accounted for $3 million in financial losses for New Zealand businesses.1 This highlights that organisations of all sizes are at risk.

Our New Specialization

As mentioned, Dynamo6 has achieved the Cisco Umbrella for MSSPs Specialization. This means our team is fully trained in the services and solutions of Cisco Umbrella. You can now choose to purchase your Cisco Umbrella licences directly through us as an authorised reseller.

For those who prefer a less hands-on approach, we can also manage your services, including policies, access, reporting, and investigation through our Platform Monitoring & Maintenance services.

This new specialisation is part of our wider commitment to bringing more security solutions to our clients, sitting alongside our CrowdStrike partnership and emerging cybersecurity service offerings.
