Callaghan Innovation, a crown entity, is tasked with making New Zealand's businesses and government agencies more innovative. To achieve that, it offers services, funding, and training and develops its innovations and pilots with the latest research and technology, such as Govt GPT.

With approximately 580 employees spread across 4 locations, Callaghan Innovation sought to move from its current Google Workspace productivity and collaboration suite to Microsoft 365 and review its cybersecurity tools, defining the best tool for the job and implementing it to keep its data and systems secure. Overall, it aimed to maintain high-security standards and workforce collaboration capabilities while ensuring seamless migration, implementation, and adoption across its technology choices.

Our approach

    Discovery & Planning

    We began with a comprehensive discovery phase to understand Callaghan Innovation's existing IT environment and future goals. Through a series of workshops, we collaborated with their team to assess critical areas such as security, identity and device management, and cloud infrastructure. This process allowed us to gather the necessary information to formulate a strategic plan tailored to their specific needs.

    Solution Design & Implementation

    Based on our discoveries, we designed a future-state solution. This involved developing a robust security framework and recommending the adoption of Microsoft 365. We then moved to implementation, deploying CrowdStrike for advanced threat protection and establishing user controls and training strategies to ensure a secure and efficient transition.

    Migration & Support

    The final phase focused on a seamless transition. We executed the migration of all user data, applications, and configurations. To ensure the Callaghan Innovation team was empowered to utilise their new systems effectively, we provided comprehensive training and ongoing support. This approach strengthened their security posture while maintaining high levels of collaboration and productivity.
