On July 25th, 2022, Dynamo6 officially turned ten. A decade is a significant milestone for any business, and it’s been a journey filled with pivotal projects, great people, and memorable moments. It’s tough to summarise, but here are some of the highlights that have defined our evolution from a two-person startup into the digital transformation partner we are today.
From finding our feet
It’s hard to forget signing a four-year lease on our first office in Garden Place back in 2013. With a team of just two, it was a huge commitment, but it was our home. In those early days, public cloud adoption was still gaining traction in New Zealand. As a new company, we were unproven. I am eternally grateful to the leaders and businesses who put their trust in us back then. You know who you are, and without you, we wouldn't be here.
To building and scaling our expertise
Our journey has been one of continuous evolution, driven by our mission to empower organisations with technology.
A foundation in the cloud: Achieving our AWS partnership early on was a key milestone. We soon followed this with Microsoft cloud credentials and, as we scaled, became a Google Cloud Premier Partner in 2019. This multi-cloud expertise is the foundation of our Cloud Services practice today.
Delivering digital products: We evolved beyond infrastructure, growing our application development services to incorporate design and digital product development. This culminated in our new brand and website becoming a 2021 Best Design Award finalist. The trust placed in us by our hometown to redevelop the Hamilton City Council website was a proud moment, showcasing our end-to-end software capabilities.
Solving work transformation challenges: The establishment of our Managed Services practice was a turning point. Our work with Callaghan Innovation on their work transformation felt like a real 'growing-up' moment. Today, our Cloud Services and Cybersecurity services are trusted by a growing number of mid-market and enterprise clients to support their core business systems and change management programmes.
Moments that made us
Beyond the business achievements, it’s the human moments that truly define the Dynamo6 journey. It’s seeing team members get married and start families. It’s rooftop drinks at our first office, sailing on an America's Cup boat in Auckland harbour, and the energy of 60,000 passionate tech people at AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas. These are the memories that have shaped our culture.
A decade of gratitude and a look ahead
I am incredibly proud to have grown something from nothing, but it has only been possible with the support of a talented and dedicated team. I want to thank all D6ers past and present, their whānau, our amazing customers, and our partners.
It’s been a massively rewarding ride, and we are only just getting started. As we look to the future, we’re focused on scaling our team, helping more businesses solve their digital challenges across Aotearoa and beyond, and continuing to build a company that we can all be proud of.
